Webinar: Challenges with Entry Visa Applications in Ho Chi Minh City

Vietnam continues to be a challenging environment for those companies wishing to obtain work permits and business visas for their incoming employees.  In our newest webinar, we focus on the current difficulties in Ho Chi Minh City with obtaining the entry visa for business travelers and how companies (and Resident Vietnam) are navigating the new requirements and procedures.  Although similar challenges may be found in some other provinces (like Hanoi), Ho Chi Minh City remains the most strict and burdensome to local HR staff and their companies.

The blocking of third-party application submission at the HCMC immigration bureau and the requirement that foreign employees may only obtain their entry visa from an overseas Vietnamese Embassy are just two of the challenges that have helped create a “New Normal” for entry visa applications. It is important for any company that wishes to bring foreign employees to live and work in Ho Chi Minh City (or one of the surrounding provinces) to understand the new procedures, timelines, and general environment.

Our 20-minute webinar covers:

  • Overview of the factors and events that are behind many of the ongoing difficulties in obtaining both entry visas and work permits.
  • Comparison between pre-pandemic entry visa procedures and the current procedures/environment.
  • Step-by-step walkthrough of the specific requirements and procedures that companies can expect when they are applying for entry visas in HCMC.
  • Discussion of today’s environment at the immigration bureau in HCMC.
  • Conclusion
