Vietnam E-Visa portal redesigned to improve experience for applicants
Starting November 11, 2024, Vietnam’s e-visa applications will now be processed through two official websites: https://evisa.gov.vn/ and https://thithucdientu.gov.vn/. Both portals feature identical designs and functionalities, providing a streamlined and unified experience for applicants.
What’s New in the Redesigned Vietnam e-Visa Portals?
While the updated design doesn’t introduce major changes in functionality, it aims to improve accessibility for users worldwide, ultimately enhancing the overall experience for applicants. The new page features a comprehensive a Frequently Asked Questions and Instructions sections available in English. The simplified, user-friendly interface is expected to encourage more travelers to explore Vietnam, whether for tourism or business purposes.
Benefits for Business Travelers
Although the e-visa system was primarily redesigned to boost tourism, business travelers will also find it convenient for short-term visits. Vietnam’s e-visa allows foreign business visitors to engage in basic business activities, including:
- Attending or receiving internal/external training
- Conducting site visits to company or client facilities
- Making sales calls to potential Vietnamese clients, as long as the individual represents a foreign commercial entity
- Look-see trips for assessing business opportunities
Important Reminders for Long-Term and Frequent Visitors
For foreigners intending to perform extensive work in Vietnam or stay for prolonged periods, a work permit and a work visa (or Temporary Residence Card, TRC) sponsored by a local entity may be required.
Additionally, frequent applications for e-visas by the same individual may attract attention from immigration authorities, potentially leading to increased scrutiny or even rejections. For more information or consultation, please contact the immigration experts at Resident Vietnam!
